Richard Cosway is a clinical psychologist based in Edinburgh, Scotland. We helped Richard decide on a full branding scheme, from name to photography, print, and web presence. We created an identity that exudes quality and trustworthiness, while conveying compassion and warmth - essential when supporting people overcome mental and physical health issues.
Edinburgh Food Studio
Edinburgh Food Studio is a restaurant & food research hub that wants to change the way Scotland interacts with food. We developed a visual language that echoed their love of place and united it with their scientific approach to food. Contours in the local landscape meld with the outlines of food cross-sections and set off a clean text- based logo. Vibrant accent colours herald their exciting, relevant, and contemporary voice that is, nonetheless, as old as the hills.
This box was a collaboration between Andëlad and eteaket. We wanted to create an experience for tea drinkers. Inside the box is a moment of surprise, colour and joy, just as with eteaket teas. The pattern is based on the various ingredients in the tea. There is a scottish twist - notice the antler and thistle leaf. The geometric shapes are reminders of the broken pieces of tea at the bottom of every packet. The box is a joyful companion to the tea drinking experience.
The Catholic Church
The Catholic App was recently launched outside St Peter's Basilica, Rome. I worked with Musemantik, a Scottish mobile technology company, to provide a skin and user experience for their app that would combine excellent usability with an appearance that is warm, familiar, while not too time or location specific, pointing to the spiritual reality that is the essence of the project.
Audio-philia is an audio specialist based in Edinburgh. They wanted a high quality image to match their high quality products. We chose a modern, sleek, but gentle logo set off by exploding diagrams, speaker meshes, and circuit diagrams. Check them out at audio-philia.co.uk
Scottish Drugs Forum & NHS Lothian
The Scottish Drugs Forum regularly tackle difficult topics. They wanted to improve the quality of their publications while remaining content driven. We delivered a beautiful, clear booklet that tackled a difficult subject with sensitivity.
Chris Anderson Music
Chris wants to entertain and enthuse people about music. He is a multi-talented artist who works as a session and live musician. Chris also offers music lessons in piano, guitar, and drums. He wanted a logo that would give him a professional and polished look, while conveying his desire to entertain and create fun. We added a touch of illustration and colour to bring this all together.
FoRB & RT
FoRB & RT is the European Parliament Intergroup on Freedom of Religion or Belief and Religious Tolerance. It is a group of like-minded MEPs that aim to keep religious freedom a central part of the EU community.
They wanted a visual treatment for their annual report that would help quickly and powerfully convey the importance of their work. They had a logo and brand colours in place. We utilised these and also provided accompanying banner and poster designs.
Discover Scotland is seeking to make its mark linking businesses and destinations to visitors. They wanted some illustration that would seamlessly combine with their branding and interface design. We produced an infographic for the making of whisky, and a series of 12 illustrations for blog posts that perfectly fitted their requirements.
I was invited out to Cameroon to assist with illustration in an Encyclopaedia of Famous Africans. I took charge of the Literature section and delivered almost a hundred varied portraits, and a playful opening image - these authors were turning over a new leaf in African history.
Tell Tall is a digital marketing agency run by Hilde Frydnes. She operated with a tag-line stating ‘make your voice stand out’. We developed a logo and branded look that reflected the company’s Norwegian roots, and literally made her message stand out.
Rufus Reade Tours
Rufus Reade wanted a new platform to communicate with his customers about forthcoming tours. He had old stories to tell, new stories to deliver, and a bank of beautiful images that he wanted to use to give an immersive experience of the countries Rufus Reade Tours visits. His customers were very often in their later years, and so he needed a platform that would be highly accessible.
We worked with Rufus to create a site that was clean, clear, and accessible. The typography was big and bold whilst speaking of letter writing and old world travel. The images took centre stage as they told the story of tours new and old.
Priestfield Church wanted to reach students. We created a vibrant, urban, and welcoming identity through combining images of people and the church's distinctive Romanesque architecture. A punchy yellow played against a variety of greys, giving a contemporary and elegant appearance.
The Carlin brothers offer a joinery and roofing service. They wanted to emphasise their personal service and their willingness to give time and a listening ear to their customers. We produced an illustration and a logo for use on publicity and on their website.
Rex MX is a motocross brand developing a unique storage solution for motocross bikes. They wanted a logo that would allow them to stand out in a high-octane crowd, and give them the capacity for growth into other motocross accessories. We arrived at a logo that is sharp edged, memorable, and reflects the aesthetics of a fast-paced, adventurous sport.
Rola Wala/ DaySix
This work was completed for Daysix as part of their project for Rola Wala, an exciting Indian Street Food brand. We provided some illustrative punch and power to accompany their flavoursome food.
